Velocity Composites Achieves Major Milestone in US Market

In this episode of the North West Aerospace Alliance News, Emma and Daniel discuss the major milestone achieved by Velocity Composites in the United States. Velocity Composites has opened its first US facility in Alabama, covering 40,000 square feet and now holds AS9100 and AS9120 status, matching the accreditations of their UK site. With plans to complete the full site build and bring their technology on site, Velocity Composites aims to start delivering from early 2023 and run all programmes by later in the year. The new Alabama facility will supply composite material kits under a new customer agreement, covering a diverse range of high-performance composite structures for military, civil, and business jet programmes. The company's software also contributes to sustainability efforts by reducing waste, making efficiencies, and improving traceability in the composite supply chain. Site approvals and first article tests are expected to be completed by the end of 2022, with volume production starting in Q1 2023 and all programmes transferred by Q3 2023. The Alabama site has been upgraded to clean room standard and will include Velocity's proprietary digital technology and latest manufacturing systems.
